Our unique approach uses carefully-crafted programming and exciting performance opportunities, developing students that are confident, resilient, and goal focused. It is equally important to us that we create technically strong students with the highest certified teachers, a syllabus-focused program and a state of the art space that protects the physical well being of each student. Dance classes include a physical warm up, conditioning, technique, traveling steps, combinations and choreography. Our classes allow each student to grow as individuals as well as create a strong team bond within their class. All students perform one routine per class in our annual spring recital, with exception of our Sunday non-recital classes.
Pre-School Dance Ballet 1 & 2- 2.5 to 4.5 years
Pre-School dance is a 45-minute class in ballet. Following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus our kinder dance classes are carefully designed for our youngest students. Each child is encouraged to explore their creativity as they develop coordination, musicality, body awareness, and listening skills. Their use of imagination is encouraged and self-esteem strengthened as they learn the basics of dance in a fun and nurturing environment.
Pre-Dance Ballet & Tap 3.5 to 4.5 years
Pre-Dance is a 45-minute class tap & ballet combo class. Following the Royal Academy of Dance & ADAPT syllabus our kinder dance classes are carefully designed for our youngest students. Each child is encouraged to explore their creativity as they develop coordination, musicality, body awareness, and listening skills. Their use of imagination is encouraged, and self-esteem strengthened as they learn the basics of dance in a fun and nurturing environment.
Jazz 5 to 17 years
Stretch and strength, technique, and style are learned in this high-energy class. Jazz technique explores body isolations, encouraging individual expression and the development of personal style. Jazz can be powerful and percussive, or expressive and lyrical. Following the ADAPT syllabus classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and movement quality with an emphasis on proper execution of jazz isolations, rhythms and style performed to contemporary music. This is one of the most popular forms of dance.
Jazz/Tap Combo Class 5 to 8 years
This combination class allows your child to get the best of both worlds. Following the ADAPT syllabus students will learn the fundamentals of tap and jazz with an exciting warm-up, across the floor, and choreography. Each child is encouraged to explore their creativity as they develop coordination, musicality, body awareness, and listening skills. Their use of imagination is encouraged, and self-esteem strengthened as they learn the basics of dance in a fun and nurturing environment.
Tap 5 to 17 years
All ages can enjoy this exciting and joyous style of dance as it helps to develop musicality and coordination. Terminology, rhythm, and timing are all taught through tap. Following the ADAPT syllabus classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet.
Hip Hop & Urban Dance 5 to 17 years
A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of popping, locking, and breaking, as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Hip hop is urban, it’s street, it’s diverse, and forever-changing.
Ballet 5 to 17 years
Ballet technique is a beautiful and classic form of dance providing grace, poise, and technique. Classes awaken the student’s unique artistry as well as focus on posture, overall body alignment, and awareness. Creativity is explored through choreography as well as traditional barre work, center work and combinations. Broadway Arts Centre is recognized under The Royal Academy of Dance which offers an internationally recognized portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement in dance.
Acrobatics is the performance of extraordinary feats of balance, agility, and motor coordination. It combines gymnastics, dance, circus, and many other athletic activities. Broadway Arts Centre is an Acrobatic Arts Certified studio. Our teachers use a carefully crafted syllabus, based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of Acro Dance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Progressions take the beginning, preschool level dancer from log rolls and somersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage!
Contemporary & Modern 8 to 17 years
One of the most expressive and moving dance forms, contemporary and modern give students an exceptional opportunity to explore the art and craft of movement. Dancers will focus on Limon technique created by master teacher and choreographer Jose Limon. Characterized by its fluid and graceful elements, dancers must have a strong technical foundation and will involve every part of their bodies and emotions when performing this beautiful and artistic form of dance. For dancers looking to be challenged, these classes combine elements of jazz, modern, ballet, and lyrical dance to create unique works of art. This class has a pre-requisite of one year of either ballet or jazz technique.
